Collinsville High School Special Olympics athletes and unified partners participated in a recent regional field day at Edwardsville High School.  

Special Olympics Unified Sports promotes social inclusion through sport through shared sports training and competition experiences. Unified Sports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.

"We participated in 9 different activities, and learned new sports and activities along with sportsmanship and teamwork - all while enjoying gorgeous spring weather," Special Olympics Coach Alicia Furlow said.

Collinsville High School is a Special Olympics Unified Champion School.
