CHS Leadership 24-25 Classes Grand Gesture Projects Raise $6,400 for Community Groups

Two groups of students from CHS Leadership classes pose with checks they raised for Covenant House and Prevent Child Abuse Illinois.
The Collinsville High School Leadership classes just wrapped-up their 2024-25 Grand Gesture projects with donations totally $6,400 to community groups.

The Grand Gesture projects are a capstone project for CHS Leadership students.  They take everything they have learned through the year and use those skills to choose a charitable organization and organize a fundraising event.

CHS Leadership curriculum was developed by social studies teacher, and student council sponsor, Kyle Gordon.  The goal is to give students an opportunity to study multiple aspects of leadership, then use their knowledge to lead a project.

This year, the third hour class raised $2,000 for Covenant House - a non profit group that offers assistance to homeless teenagers in our area.  Fifth hour raised $4,400 for Prevent Child Abuse Illinois.
